Product Description

Canine Parvovirus (CPV) Antigen Rapid Test | Accuvet CPV-Ag Kit

Accuvet CPV-Ag Kit is a rapid veterinary diagnostic test designed for the qualitative detection of Canine Parvovirus (CPV) antigen in canine feces. Using lateral flow immunochromatographic technology, the test helps veterinary professionals screen suspected parvovirus cases in dogs and puppies with visible results within 15 minutes.

Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious viral disease that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness, especially in puppies, unvaccinated dogs, and dogs with possible exposure to infected animals. Early CPV screening can support timely clinical decisions, isolation planning, supportive care, and further diagnostic evaluation.

What is a CPV Test Kit?

A CPV test kit is a veterinary diagnostic tool used to detect Canine Parvovirus antigen in dogs. The Accuvet CPV-Ag Kit is designed to test canine fecal or anal swab samples and support rapid screening of suspected parvo cases in clinical or field settings.

When Should a Dog Be Tested for Parvo?

A dog may be tested for parvo when it shows symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, lethargy, appetite loss, dehydration, weakness, or sudden gastrointestinal illness.

Testing may also be considered when there is a history of exposure to infected dogs, incomplete vaccination, kennel exposure, shelter exposure, outbreak risk, or unclear gastrointestinal symptoms.

Who Can Use This Test Kit?

  • Veterinary doctors
  • Pet clinics
  • Veterinary hospitals
  • Diagnostic centres
  • Field veterinary teams
  • Animal health workers under veterinary guidance

Key Benefits of Accuvet CPV-Ag Kit

  • Detects Canine Parvovirus (CPV) antigen
  • Suitable for dogs and puppies
  • Rapid results in approximately 15 minutes
  • Uses canine fecal or anal swab samples
  • Easy-to-use lateral flow test format
  • Suitable for veterinary clinics, hospitals, diagnostic centres, and field use
  • Supports early veterinary decision-making in suspected parvo cases

How CPV Testing Supports Veterinary Decision-Making

Early CPV screening helps veterinarians make faster decisions in suspected parvovirus cases. A rapid diagnostic direction can support isolation decisions, supportive care planning, case monitoring, and the need for further confirmatory testing when required.

This is important because symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, appetite loss, and dehydration can overlap with other gastrointestinal diseases in dogs. Accuvet CPV-Ag Kit provides practical diagnostic support for veterinary professionals at the clinic or field level.

Sample Type

Canine fecal sample or canine anal swab sample.

Test Procedure Overview

  • Allow the test device, specimen, buffer, and controls to reach room temperature before testing.
  • Collect a canine fecal or anal swab sample using the sterile swab.
  • Place the swab into the sample buffer and rotate it at least 10 times.
  • Add 3 drops, approximately 90 µl, of extracted specimen into the sample well.
  • Read the result within 15 minutes.
  • Do not interpret the result after 20 minutes.

Result Interpretation

Positive Result

Two coloured lines appear: one line in the control line region and one line in the test line region. Any visible shade in the test line region should be considered positive.

Negative Result

Only one coloured line appears in the control line region, and no coloured line appears in the test line region.

Invalid Result

No coloured line appears in the control line region. This may happen due to insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedure. In such cases, read the product insert carefully and repeat the test with a new device.

Storage and Stability

Store the test kit in the sealed pouch at 2°C to 30°C. Do not freeze. The test device should remain sealed until use and should not be used beyond the expiry date.
