Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) Antigen Rapid Test | Accuvet CDV-Ag Kit

Accuvet CDV-Ag Kit is a rapid veterinary diagnostic test designed for the qualitative detection of Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) antigen in canine eye, nose, or mouth secretions. It uses lateral flow immunoassay technology to support quick CDV screening in dogs.

Canine distemper is a serious viral disease in dogs that may affect the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems. This CDV antigen rapid test helps veterinary professionals screen suspected cases using a practical format with results available in 10 minutes.

What is a CDV Test Kit?

A CDV test kit is a veterinary diagnostic tool used to detect Canine Distemper Virus antigen in dogs. The Accuvet CDV-Ag Kit is intended for in vitro diagnostic use in canine patients and acts as an auxiliary method for detecting canine distemper virus infection.

When Should a Dog Be Tested for Distemper?

A dog may be tested for distemper when it shows signs such as nasal discharge, eye discharge, coughing, fever, lethargy, appetite loss, vomiting, diarrhea, or neurological signs.

Testing may also be considered when there is exposure risk, incomplete vaccination, shelter exposure, kennel outbreak risk, or unclear respiratory and systemic symptoms.

Who Can Use This Test Kit?

  • Veterinary doctors
  • Pet clinics
  • Veterinary hospitals
  • Diagnostic centres
  • Field veterinary teams
  • Animal health workers under veterinary guidance

Key Benefits of Accuvet CDV-Ag Kit

  • Detects Canine Distemper Virus antigen
  • Suitable for canine use only
  • Uses eye, nose, or mouth secretion samples
  • Rapid result reading in 10 minutes
  • Simple lateral flow immunoassay format
  • Useful for veterinary clinics, hospitals, diagnostic centres, and field use
  • Supports early veterinary decision-making in suspected distemper cases

How CDV Testing Supports Veterinary Decision-Making

Early CDV screening helps veterinarians make faster decisions in suspected canine distemper cases. A rapid diagnostic direction can support isolation decisions, case monitoring, supportive care planning, and further laboratory evaluation when required.

This is important because symptoms of canine distemper can overlap with other respiratory, gastrointestinal, and systemic infections in dogs. Accuvet CDV-Ag Kit provides practical diagnostic support for veterinary professionals at the clinic or field level.

Sample Type

Canine eye, nose, or mouth secretions.

Test Procedure Overview

  • Allow the test device and buffer to reach room temperature between 15°C and 30°C before testing.
  • Collect canine eye, mouth, or nose secretions using a sterile cotton swab.
  • Place the swab into the sample buffer and rotate it at least 10 times.
  • Add 3 drops, approximately 90 µl, of mixed solution into the specimen well.
  • Read the result in 10 minutes.
  • Do not interpret the result after 20 minutes.

Result Interpretation

Positive Result

Two coloured lines appear: one line in the control line region and one line in the test line region. Any visible shade in the test line region should be considered positive.

Negative Result

Only one coloured line appears in the control line region, and no coloured line appears in the test line region.

Invalid Result

No coloured line appears in the control line region. This may happen due to insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedure. In such cases, read the product insert carefully and repeat the test with a new device.

Storage and Stability

Store the test kit sealed and away from light at room temperature or refrigerated between 2°C and 30°C. Do not freeze. Use before the expiry date marked on the package label.
